A jigsaw puzzle program that strives for an authentic puzzle assembling experience

Randy Kaelber
Puzzler is a jigsaw puzzle program that cuts images in interesting ways and lets the player assemble the pieces on a large virtual table. Pieces are cut, then scattered at random over the surface of the table in one of 36 orientations. Its goal is to make puzzles that range in difficulty from simple children's puzzles all the way to driving experienced jigsaw puzzle mavens to the brink of insanity. This is still alphaware. There's much to be done (primarily UI work) to make this a really playable game, but what is there works fairly well.
